Caleb Armstrong delivered a strong performance on the mound to lead East Knox to a 3-1 victory over Northmor in a low-scoring contest Monday evening.
Armstrong tossed a complete game for the Bulldogs, allowing just two hits and one unearned run across seven innings. The right-hander struck out eight and worked around four walks, keeping Northmor’s offense quiet throughout the game.
East Knox struck first in the opening frame when Jaxon Lester drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in the game’s first run. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 2-0 in the second on a sacrifice fly by Luke Holsinger.
That was all the run support Armstrong needed.
Shane Gardner led the East Knox offense with a 2-for-4 day at the plate. The Bulldogs also turned a key double play on defense to help preserve the lead.
East Knox and Northmor are scheduled to meet again Wednesday.
