Mount Vernon City Council member LeNan Hager participated in her first meeting on March 24 after being selected to fill the vacancy left by Mike Miller's resignation earlier in the month.
"I also wanted to remind folks that we have this little gem in Mount Vernon, it was Crickets that closed temporarily in the middle of January because of a building being sold," Hager said during council comments at the end of the March 24 meeting, according to a YouTube recording. "They are having a grand reopening on Tuesday, April 1. They're now located at 316 South Main St. That's a small business that we definitely want to support, it's wonderful."
According to a Mount Vernon Facebook post, Knox County Republican Central Committee members from the Fourth Ward voted to approve Hager to serve on city council on March 20. Mayor Matt Starr swore her into office on March 21.
Hager's LinkedIn profile indicates she has been the owner and operator of Great Point Kitchen & Events on East High Street in Mount Vernon since November 2011. The business is an independent caterer, special event planner, and personal chef service. From 2008 to 2011, she served as the sales and catering manager at Sunny Street Cafe. Prior to that role, she was a regional public affairs director for the Auditor of the State of Ohio.
Her LinkedIn page also states she earned a bachelor's degree in Communications from The Ohio State University.
The City of Mount Vernon's Facebook page reports that Hager assisted volunteers at the Tire Recycle Day held on March 29 at the Knox County Fairgrounds. More than 1,500 tires were collected and will be recycled.
