The Lady Jackets secured an 8-5 victory over the Perry County Central Lady Commodores on Tuesday, March 25, thanks to a fast start and strong pitching.

According to the game summary, Mt. Vernon set the tone early by scoring three runs in the first inning and adding another in the third. The decisive moment came in the fifth inning when the Yellow Jackets scored four runs to take an 8-1 lead. Despite a late push from Perry County Central, Mt. Vernon maintained their lead for the win.

Keely Pollard led Mt. Vernon's offense with a home run and three RBIs. Hailey Rudrick also contributed significantly, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Presli Pope added an RBI double, while Carly Kennedy and Mea Joyner each stole a base. The team recorded nine hits in total, with Rylee Myers, Kennedy, and Joyner each collecting one hit. They demonstrated patience at the plate by drawing two walks and striking out five times.

Pollard was effective on the mound as well, delivering 3.2 shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four batters. Miranda Oswalt took over in relief, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up five runs—four of which were earned—but managed to secure the win.
