This spring, beginning April 8, Mount Vernon will come alive with the vibrant melodies of city school concerts, celebrating a season of music.
Melodies and memories will be woven together by the talented students of Columbia Elementary, Dan Emmet Elementary, East Elementary, Mount Vernon High School. Mount Vernon Middle School. Students from Pleasant Street Elementary, Twin Oak Elementary, Wiggins Street Elementary will also be performing.
The young prodigies of Columbia Elementary K-2 and Twin Oak Elementary K-2 will light up the Knox Memorial Theater on April 8 and 10, respectively. The Spring Musical will begin at 6:30 p.m.
On April 11 and 12, the Mount Vernon High School Theater and Music Departments will present the Little Women, The Musical at the MVHS Theater. It will be shown at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Another Spring Musical will be held at the MVHS Theater at 6:30 p.m. by East Elementary K-2 on April 15, followed by Dan Emmet Elementary K-2 on April 17. Pleasant Street Elementary will wrap up April's elementary concerts with a charming showcase of the Spring Musical on April 24 starting at 6 p.m.
Soulful rhythms will fill the MVMS Commons on April 25, when the Mount Vernon Arts, Middle School, and High School students will perform at the Tops & Pops Jazz Concert at 7 p.m.
To start the month of May, an hour and a half of MVHS Orchestra Spring Concert will captivate the audience at the MVHS Theater. The orchestra will play at 7 p.m.
On May 6, young stars from Wiggin Street Elementary K-2 will enchant the crowd with their captivating melodies at the Rosse Hall at Kenyon College starting at 6 p.m.
The Mount Vernon Middle School students will sweep into the spotlight on May 8 with their choir concert starting at 7 p.m. And then, a crescendo of cultural delight with the May Fiesta Choir Show & Dinner will resonate a festive energy beginning at 6 p.m. on May 10. Both events will be hosted at the MVHS Theater, 300 Yellow Jacket Drive, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
Ending the musical journey are three concerts. The Mount Vernon High School Band will hold a concert at the MVHS Theater on May 12 at 7 p.m. It will be followed by the Middle School Band the next day at the MVMS Gym, 302 Yellow Jacket Drive, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. The Middle School Orchestra will seal the season with a display of instrumental excellence on May 15 at the MVHS Theater.
