The story of "Beauty and the Beast" originated in France in the mid-18th century as "La belle et la bête" and has since been adapted worldwide. Disney's animated version premiered in November 1991, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. It won Oscars for Best Score and Best Song for Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. The tale was Disney's first musical on Broadway, becoming one of its longest-running shows.

"Beauty and the Beast JR." follows Belle, a young girl who encounters a prince transformed into a beast due to a spell. To break it, he must learn to love another before time runs out. The show features classic songs like "Be Our Guest" and "Belle," along with original numbers from the Broadway adaptation.

Attendees can purchase a light-up rose for $5 to enhance their experience during key moments of the performance. Tickets are priced at $20 for main floor seating, $15 for balcony seats, with a $3 discount for children under ten. They can be purchased online at MTVarts.com or at the Mount Vernon Arts Consortium office.

Disney’s "Beauty and the Beast JR." is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. More information about licensing Disney shows can be found at www.DisneyMusicals.com.
