Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) recognized two faculty and staff members for their exceptional service during the Excellence in the Call awards reception on February 20, 2025, in Foster Hall. The announcement was made in a press release on February 21.
According to the press release, Margaret Allotey-Pappoe, professor and department chair of graphic design, and Ryan Downs, director of institutional research and accountability, were recognized by Dr. Eric Stetler, vice president of innovation, student experience, and GPS at MVNU's Excellence in the Call awards reception. This quarterly award, supported by faculty and staff donors, honors individuals for their service, leadership, and contributions beyond their regular duties. Recipients receive recognition at the event, a certificate, and a $500 award.
Allotey-Pappoe has held various faculty positions at MVNU since 2011 and previously taught at Bradley University. She is a member of professional organizations such as AIGA and the College Art Association. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and she has participated in panel discussions on art and faith. She has received multiple awards including MVNU’s Innovation in Education Grant and the Hospitality Award.
Downs is the director of institutional research and accountability at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He leads the Institutional Effectiveness Office under the Vice President for Academic Affairs. This office focuses on assessment, planning, reporting, and testing to enhance the quality of the university's programs, services, and operations.
Mount Vernon Nazarene University was founded in 1968 as a Christian liberal arts institution in central Ohio affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene.
