Janet S. (Bower) Daley, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, to be with the Lord.
She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Danville, Ohio, to the late Charles and Lena (Barnes) Bower. A 1954 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, she worked for many years in retail at Kmart and Staples, both in Mount Vernon. Janet was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Temple, where she enjoyed spending time with the ladies' group.
She married George R. Daley of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 13, 1954, in Liberty, Indiana. The couple lived in New Jersey and Florida before returning to Mount Vernon.
Janet is survived by four children: Ellen Daley, George Robert (Marissa) Daley Jr., Pamela (Wayne) Jones, and Thomas (Tressa) Daley; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George, who passed away in August 2024; her parents; a brother; and six sisters.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Jan. 27, at noon in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel handled the services for the family.
