Janet S. (Bower) Daley, 88, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Danville, Ohio to the late Charles and Lena (Barnes) Bower.
After graduating in 1954 from Mount Vernon High School, Janet worked many years in retail at Kmart and Staples, both in Mount Vernon.
On Feb. 13, 1954, she married George R. Daley of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
They lived in New Jersey and Florida before returning to Mount Vernon.
She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Temple where she enjoyed spending time with the ladies' group.
Janet is survived by four children, Ellen Daley, George Robert (Marissa) Daley Jr., Pamela (Wayne) Jones, and Thomas (Tressa) Daley; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George, in August 2024, her parents, a brother, and six sisters.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Jan. 27 at 12 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
