On January 10th, 11th, and 12th, MTVarts will host "A Night of One Acts 2025" at the warehouse14 Pop Up Blackbox located at 14 East Ohio Avenue in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The event will feature an exciting lineup of three one-act plays, showcasing a mix of comedy and drama.
The first performance, “I THINK YOU THINK I LOVE YOU,” written by Kelly Younger and directed by Gabrielle Fuller, explores themes of mistaken identity and human vulnerability through a comedic lens. The cast includes Leah Miller as Branwyn and Christopher Hartman as Mark, who navigate a series of unexpected events involving ashes and a knock at the door.
Following this, “LOCKDOWN,” a gripping drama by Douglas Craven directed by Mary Harris, places eight students in a tense situation during an official lockdown. As they grapple with uncertainty, audiences are reminded of the gravity of such scenarios. This production includes a talented ensemble cast featuring Kale Oswalt, Madison Sichina, Devyn Hall, Bella Oster, Gabrielle Fuller, Kiarah Smith, Reese Ferenbaugh, Lanah Andrews, and Kylie Stadler Hoam. Due to its intense themes and language, parental discretion is advised for attendees under 12.
The evening concludes with “BAKE OFF,” a comedic piece by Sheri Wilner, directed by Christopher J. Hartman. This humorous take on cooking competitions features Kate Ernsberger as Rita and Mason Mickley as Paul, along with Mehmet Ali Schubel as the Pillsbury Doughboy, ensuring a delightful end to the night.
