Elaine Ann Miller | Roberts Funeral Home

Elaine Ann Miller, passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, surrounded by her family, just two days after her 88th birthday.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1936, to E. Bryan and Glenna (McElroy) Pipes, in Fredericktown, Ohio.

A 1954 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, Elaine was active in the marching band where she played snare drums and was later a majorette.

After graduation, Elaine attended flight school in Kansas City, Missouri, to become a stewardess. She returned home to Mount Vernon to marry the handsome pig farmer, Dale Clifton Miller, on June 28, 1957.

Together they raised their four sons in the red brick house on Sycamore Road and were together for nearly 60 years until his death in 2016. Elaine’s life was all about “the boys” and spent many years hauling her sons to baseball, football, basketball, track and band practices, along with many other activities.

After years managing the family farms and Agri-Business and a stint at Apple Valley, the Millers retired to Florida and enjoyed over 20 years of three of her favorite things, palm trees, water, and sunshine.

Elaine moved back to Ohio to be closer to family following her husband’s passing, and truth be known, two hurricanes.

Surviving are her sons, Douglas Creighton Miller, Celina, Ohio; Daniel Clifton (Virginia) Miller, Butler, Ohio; David Carlton Miller, Upper Arlington, Ohio; Dennis Craig (Jennifer) Miller, Mount Vernon, Ohio; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Virginia Humrichouser, and a brother, Donald Pipes.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Ohio Eastern Star Home for their loving friendships and the many stages of their mother’s care over her six years there.

A graveside service and internment will take place at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens at a later date where she will be interned along with her husband.

Roberts Funeral Home will be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American Heart Association.
