The community is invited to celebrate the holiday season with the biennial Christmas Festival organized by the Music Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4.
According to a news release from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), the concert will commence at 7:15 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel Auditorium.
The news release states that MVNU has invited community members to enjoy a night of festive music and holiday cheer suitable for the entire family. The free concert will showcase a variety of Christmas music performed by several ensembles, including the Collegians Chorale, Treble Singers Women's Choir, Una Voce Chamber Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Flute Choir, and String Ensemble.
Highlights of the concert will feature arrangements of "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," "Holly Jolly Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "The Twelve Days of Christmas," "Away in a Manger," and a piece combining "Carol of the Bells" with "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen." Additionally, Eric Whitacre's "Lux Aurumque" and "Eatnemen Vuelie (Fairest Lord Jesus)," arranged by Emily Crocker, will be included in the performance.
