While many stars from last year have graduated, the talent well is not dry for EK Bowling | EKSCHOOLS

As football season wraps up for most schools, winter sports are taking center stage, with tryouts and practices well underway. At East Knox City Schools, teams are preparing for an exciting season of competition, including bowling and basketball.

Bowling

The East Knox Boys Bowling Team, coached by Chip Pozderac, is coming off a historic 2023-2024 season. The team achieved an undefeated record of 19-0, claiming the KMAC Championship title, finishing as District Runners-Up, and earning a spot in the state competition.

This year presents new challenges, as the Bulldogs work to rebuild after the graduation of 13 seniors. Despite this significant turnover, Pozderac is optimistic about the team’s potential.

“We had an amazing year last year and graduated 13 seniors, but the well isn't completely dry, and we are rebuilding,” he said.

The team’s 2024-2025 roster includes several returning letter winners, all sophomores: Blake Calhoon, who earned First Team KMAC honors last season, along with Shaymus Lashley, Aiden Stapleton, Ryan Peck, and Brody Karosec. They are joined by a promising group of newcomers, including juniors Noah Nelson, a transfer from Mount Vernon, and Blake Stiner, as well as sophomores Haiden Priest, Braxton Lahmon, and freshman Issac Vineyard.

The Bulldogs’ first match is set for November 19 at 4:00 p.m. against Heath at Park Lanes.

Girls Basketball

The East Knox girls basketball team 2024-25 roster is set.
The following girls have made the team this season: Sydney Opfer, Ella Divan, Molly Totten, Reese Todd, Isabella Grennell, Jasmine Smith, Autumn Laymon, Isabelle Bostic, Malena Streby, Cloe Tucker and Ava Faucet.
The team’s first game will be 6 p.m. Nov. 22 at home against Wynford. The Bulldogs first conference game will be Dec. 6 against Fredericktown.
