The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to a report of a dryer fire at a Park Avenue home on Monday, November 4. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to a Buffalo Grove news release, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 1:46 p.m. to 65 Park Avenue for the reported dryer fire. Upon arrival, fire companies encountered heavy smoke emanating from the house. They initiated an aggressive interior attack, deploying a hose line into the home while also searching for occupants.

The news release said that firefighters discovered the fire originating from the dryer and spreading into the first-floor laundry room. The blaze was quickly extinguished, and no occupants were found inside the house. The residence was deemed uninhabitable due to smoke damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, as noted in the news release. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department used this opportunity to remind homeowners about the importance of cleaning and maintaining their appliances.

Fire Chief Larry Kane mentioned on the Buffalo Grove website that "the village operates a full-service fire department providing fire, EMS (Emergency Medical Services), fire prevention, public education, inspection services, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and dive rescue and recovery." He added that "the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responds to almost 5,000 calls annually."
