Mount Vernon Nazarene University President Carson Castleman announced the hiring of Trey Schruff as the school's executive director of Enrollment Systems and Operations. Schruff brings 15 years of higher education experience to the role.
"I am so excited to have Trey at MVNU," Johnna Vanover, vice president for Enrollment and Marketing, said in an MVNU news release. "He has a proven track record of results, and he is a very driven leader. We have worked together in the past and aligned very well, and I am confident he will thrive in the MVNU culture. We are blessed for him to join us in this exciting time of MVNU’s history under Dr. Castleman’s leadership, and I am honored to work alongside him."
According to the news release, Schruff spent the past five years at MVNU's sister school Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. In his new role, he will oversee enrollment communications and strategies and lead the systems and operations team in implementing MVNU's overall plan for inquiry and applicant tracking and communications. Schruff's job requires him to serve as the university management software expert. He will collaborate with third-party vendors to negotiate contracts and ensure alignment with recruitment goals.
The news release said that Schruff must generate enrollment reports and deliver them to university leadership on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. He said his goal is to enhance user experiences through unique and innovative solutions that aid the university's overall growth and success.
Schruff served in several enrollment positions at Trevecca, including the Office of Graduate and Adult Education's director of enrollment, according to the news release. His latest role as director of strategic partnerships put him in charge of developing relationships with community organizations to increase the university's brand awareness.
Schruff earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts in Human Services with a cognate in Christian Ministries from Liberty University. He lives in Thompson's Station, Tennessee, with his wife, Ashlynn, and one-year-old son, Tate.
