This program seeks to ensure that the service of Knox County’s veterans does not go unnoticed. | Experience Mount Vernon

In a tribute to Knox County’s service members, Experience Mount Vernon proudly announces the 2024 Veterans Day Pole Banner program. The banners will honor local veterans, celebrating their dedication and sacrifice for our nation.

The banners, to be prominently displayed on lamp posts throughout Downtown Mount Vernon, will feature local veterans' names, photos, ranks, and branches. This initiative allows the Knox County community to recognize those who have served in various capacities from all branches of the military.

Families of veterans wishing to sponsor a banner honoring their loved ones can find more information or submit a sponsorship request at experiencemv.org/banner-campaigns/#veterans. The sponsorship cost is $150 for a new banner and $75 for the renewal of an existing banner.

Applications will open as follows:

Sept. 2-Oct. 7: NEW Banner Sponsorships accepted

Sept. 16-Oct. 7: RENEWAL of previously sponsored banners accepted

Sept. 30-Oct. 7: Business sponsorships accepted

Space is limited to 54 pole brackets, and requests will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as outlined above.

This program, spearheaded by Experience Mount Vernon, a local nonprofit organization, seeks to ensure that the service of Knox County’s veterans does not go unnoticed, especially within the heart of Mount Vernon. The banners will be displayed for approximately 30 days, ending the week of Thanksgiving.

In addition to the Veterans Day banner program, Experience Mount Vernon hosts a Memorial Day banner program to honor service members who have died during or since service to our country.
