An OVI checkpoint will be held today, Aug. 16, from 8 to 10 p.m. on State Route 13 near Mount Vernon Avenue in Knox County.
According to a news release from the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the OVI checkpoint is funded by federal grant funds. It is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
The checkpoint will be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes, the news release said.
The Mount Gilead Post said persons planning to consume alcohol should designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before drinking, the news release said.
