The City of Mount Vernon has announced a temporary traffic pattern change on West Burgess Street for a period of 90 days, which started July 17 and will run until Oct. 15, according to a city press release.

The change impacts one block of West Burgess Street between North Main Street and North Mulberry Street.

During this period, the block of West Burgess Street will transition from a one-way street with some available street parking to a two-way street with no street parking permitted. The traffic adjustment is part of a series of traffic changes to accommodate new residential traffic at "The Grad" (301 N. Mulberry St.).

"We understand that this change may cause some inconvenience and we appreciate the cooperation and patience of our residents and motorists," the press release stated. "The city is committed to ensuring the safety and smooth flow of traffic during this period."

According to the press release, residents with concerns or questions can contact the Safety Service Office.

"Thank you for your understanding and cooperation," the release stated. "Please use caution and be aware of the new traffic pattern while driving through this area. Your safety is our top priority."
