Fredericktown man dies after Morrow County head-on collision

A Fredericktown man died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 11:59 a.m. on June 26 on State Route 95 in Franklin Township. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Joe Lee Bolton succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Morrow County Hospital.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Bolton was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 eastbound on State Route 95 when his vehicle traveled left of center and struck a westbound 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Blaze Maurer, 19, of Mount Gilead, head-on.

Maurer was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield with serious injuries, while Bolton was transported to Morrow County Hospital.

Neither driver used a seatbelt, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the accident.

Mount Gilead EMS and Fire, Morrow County Sheriff's Department, Morrow County Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the Morrow County Prosecutor assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the scene.
