Knox County 9-1-1 received 3,945 computer-aided dispatch calls and 1,620 calls to 911 during May, Operations Director Laura Webster informed Knox County Commissioners during their June 13 meeting.

According to a Knox County Facebook post, the 911 dispatchers handled 124 disturbance calls, 31 for domestic violence, and another 30 attempted or threatened suicides. Additionally, there were 21 drug-related calls, including six drug overdose incidents. Dispatchers also managed 24 mental health calls and nine burglary reports.

In addition to the emergency calls, dispatchers handled 5,604 non-emergency calls. Outgoing calls exceeded 3,300. The peak day for 911 calls was Friday, while non-emergency calls were more frequent on Thursday. The busiest hour for emergency calls was at 3 p.m., with non-emergency call volume peaking at 2 p.m.

Webster stated that the three newest dispatchers have completed CPR training and will take the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials Emergency Medical Dispatch (APCO EMD) course this week. She also mentioned that the new CTO/Trainee software program, PowerReady, has been implemented for trainers, trainees, and training coordinators.
