Centerburg ties for first in KMAC with 3 conference wins

The Centerburg baseball team went 3-1 last week, with the three wins coming against KMAC opponents to put them at a tie for first in the conference.

On April 22, the Trojans beat Cardington-Lincoln 6-3 in a game where Grayson Reynolds hit a double and a triple to lead the offense, and Faught hit three doubles to lead the offense.

Faught got the win on the mound, going seven innings, scattering 10 hits and allowing three earned runs, while striking out four.

Cardington-Lincoln was led by James Fiant and Wyatt Denney, who each hit a pair of singles. Denney also had an RBI.

AJ Hall was handed the loss, going four innings, allowing five runs but two earned, and three walks, while striking out two. 

The Trojans followed with two straight wins against Fredericktown. They beat the Freddies at home 10-0 on April 24, with Daniel Lemaster spinning a gem allowing two hits, while striking out nine.

Vinny Morgan and Lemaster were both 2-for-4, with Lemaster knocking in a run. Reynolds was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run. Jesse Rings knocked in two runs and was 1-for-3. Clarke Redd was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

On April 26 they traveled to Fredericktown and picked up an 11-0 win, led by Ryder Scott on the hill. He pitched six innings, allowing three hits and two walks, while striking out three for the win.

Reynolds drove in four runs, going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs. Faught drove in three runs and went 2-for-4. Rings was 2-for-4 with two runs, a walk and an RBI. Lemaster and Mason Vallance also had RBIs in the game for the Trojans.

The Trojans were riding a six game winning streak going into the April 27 matchup with Grandview Heights, but the Bobcats were able to come out on top with a 7-5 win.

Centerburg had a 5-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth, but the Bobcats exploded for six runs to take the lead. They added a run in the sixth as insurance and sealed the win.

Reynolds was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a walk. Vallance was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Morgan had two RBIs and Rings had an RBI.

The Trojans are now 10-6 on the season, and tied for first in KMAC play with East Knox at 8-1.
