Loudonville makes it 3 in a row in win over Central Christian

The Loudonville baseball team has turned it on of late, winning their past three games including a blowout of Central Christian to start the week.

Loudonville 13, Central Christian 5

Dilan Wade was a force for the Loudonville Redbirds in a 13-5 win over Central Christian on April 15, driving in a pair of runs in a three hit effort to lo lead the Redbirds in a 13 hit attack. 

The Redbirds went up 7-0 in the second inning and never looked back in the win. Wade and Judah Layton started off the inning with back-to-back singles, and then Wade scored on an error. The next at bat, Layton scored on an error to go up by two. Josh Serrato bunted for a single to load the bases, and then Caden Donaldson scored on a passed ball. Matt Sprang followed with a two-run single and then it was time for Wade’s second at bat of the inning. He smashed a ball to left field to knock in a pair of runs to make it a seven run ballgame.

In the fourth inning, Hunter Polen hit an RBI single and then Layton hit a ball to right field that was misplayed, knocking in two more runs to make it 10-1. Central Christian added a run in the fourth and three runs in the fifth, but Loudonville tacked on three more runs in the sixth to secure the win. 

Wade was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. One of his hits was a double. Layton was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Bailey Weiser went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs and Serrato was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Easton Edwards hit a triple in a 1-for-3 day.

Wade picked up the win going three innings, allowing two earned runs, seven hits and two walks, while striking out one batter. Layton came in for three innings of relief, allowing three runs but two earned, three hits and two walks, with three strikeouts.

Loudonville 7, Hillsdale 6

Loudonville fended off Hillsdale’s late comeback attempt on April 13 in a 7-6 win led by Serrato and Weiser with two RBIs apiece.

Serrato was 1-for-4 with a double, for the only extra-base hit of the day for the Redbirds. Weiser went 1-for-3 in the win. Sprang was 2-for-4 with two runs. Sprang got the win in a start where he went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three earned runs, four hits and four walks, while striking out four.

Loudonville 9, Mansfield Christian 1

Polen was a monster at the dish going 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored to lead the Redbirds to a 9-1 win over the Flames on April 9.

Sprang also had himself a day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI. Caden Donaldson was 1-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Donaldson picked up the win, going three innings, allowing one hit and one walk, while striking out six batters.
