Mount Vernon Safety Service Director, Tanner Salyers, has been granted authorization by the city council to purchase a work truck for the Water and Wastewater Department.

According to minutes from the Mount Vernon City Council's April 8 meeting, the city will acquire a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado work truck-Knapeheide Utility Vehicle (KUV) for $112,900 from General Motors (GM). The base price of this two-wheel drive truck, inclusive of options and destination charge, was initially $78,775. However, with the addition of a 14-foot KUV workbody, an extra $40,367 was added to the cost. Despite this increase, a customer discount of $6,900 was applied.

The minutes from the Mount Vernon City Council's April 8 meeting also indicate that the city council decided to suspend the required three separate readings of the resolution on Councilmember Janis Seavolt's motion. This motion was seconded by Councilmember Tammy Woods. The legislation was subsequently approved on a unanimous vote of 7-0.
