The Office of Criminal Justice Services has recertified the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff's Office. Alongside these two, thirteen other agencies also achieved recertification.

According to an Ohio Department of Public Safety Office of Criminal Justice Services press release, sixteen additional law enforcement agencies were certified for having met state standards established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board.

The same press release further explained that the certification process necessitates the adoption and implementation of two standards concerning the use of force and hiring and recruitment. The recertification process unfolds on a revolving three to four-year cycle.

In another statement from the Ohio Department of Public Safety Office of Criminal Justice Services, it was revealed that almost 650 agencies have been certified. Certified law enforcement agencies in Ohio employ 29,633 officers, which accounts for 88.31% of all officers in the state.
