Store More Ohio, a mini-storage facility, has submitted an application for a conditional use permit. The permit will allow the company to expand its business with a third building on its property at 721-723 N. Sandusky St., Mount Vernon. The Board of Zoning Appeals is set to hold a hearing on the application.
"Granting the variance would only allow for the expansion and improvement of an already existing mini-storage business which has been operating for years," said Rick Bergman, representing Store More Ohio in its application to the city for the conditional use permit, according to the Board of Zoning Appeals agenda for its April 3 meeting.
According to the same agenda, mini-storage buildings in the General Business district are required to have a conditional user permit. The two existing buildings were constructed in 1987 and 1980 respectively. In 1998, the property was annexed into Mount Vernon from Clinton Township.
The Board of Zoning Appeals' agenda also reveals that the location includes three adjacent parcels, with two containing the existing buildings and the third parcel situated between them. The proposed new building would be built across these three parcels.
The Mount Vernon Board of Zoning Appeals holds meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. It comprises seven appointed members: Chairman Michael Percy, Vice Chairman Tonya Boucher, and members Susie Simpson, William Smith, Cynthia Cunningham, Otho Eyster, and Kate Aryanata.
