The initial phase of a road project, valued at $2.9 million, has been awarded to Law General Contracting for the Danville-Amity Road Safety Improvement Project.

According to a press release from Knox County, Knox Engineer Cameron Keaton is responsible for awarding the construction contract. The Ohio Department of Transportation Safety Funds and the Ohio Public Works Commission are providing full funding for the project.

The first phase of the project is set to commence this month on the section between Skyline Drive and Chapel Road, as per another press release from Knox County. Once this portion of work is completed, the contractor will proceed eastwards until reaching the Village of Danville corporation limit.

The comprehensive work will include roadway widening, resurfacing, ditch improvements, culvert work, and guardrail installation, as stated in a third press release from Knox County. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and anticipate temporary delays or road closures. The completion of this project is projected for fall 2024, subject to weather conditions and construction progress.
