Carol June Bassett entered her Heavenly Home on March 10, 2024 after a year-long battle with Leukemia and complications from a knee replacement. She was born and raised in Coshocton County, Ohio on June 30, 1937 to the late Lewis E. Allen and Eunice I. Allen. She has been residing in Houston/Sugar Land, TX for the past 44 years. 

She married H. Eugene (Gene) Bassett December 23, 1957. He passed away in 2017 after 60 years of marriage. 

She was loved and adored by her four children, Jeffrey (Ana) Bassett, Terri (Ed) Blanchfield, Steve (Shannon) Bassett and Bradley (Dina) Bassett, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

She attended the University of Ohio. Growing up in a family that was very musically inclined, she played piano, organ, accordion, ukulele, saxophone, dulcimer, harp and bells. She taught piano to many, many students over the years. 

In 1980 she graduated from nursing school, and upon the family moving to Houston in 1980, she began her nursing career. She retired from nursing after 25 years when her husband retired from engineering. They traveled to London several times when Gene became a professional engineering consultant with a London-based company. 

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Gene Bassett, her parents, brother Glenn Allen and sister MaryLou Dovenbarger, as well as two grandchildren, Doug Bassett and Diane Burkett, and many other beloved relatives.
