Scott Pullins, a conservative Republican attorney and resident of Knox County, has urged the Mount Vernon City Council to rescind its "Sustainable 2050" resolution, which was passed in 2023. Pullins argues that the resolution inadvertently promotes extreme left-wing environmental policies.

"City officials, including the newly elected City Council, should make repealing this cockamamie resolution a top priority," said Pullins in a news release shared on January 10. He added, "City officials need to put up or shut up. They are either for reliable coal and natural gas-powered electricity or they are for unreliable windmills and solar panels."

Pullins further stated that the resolution commits to "pursue" solar power as an alternative to coal and natural gas. The resolution was initially passed on September 28, 2023.

In other news related to Pullins, he has recently joined the Ohio House District 98 Republican primary race. According to a news release shared on January 10, he previously lost a primary by 684 votes in August 2022 against a three-term incumbent.

Meanwhile, opposition against the Sustainable 2050 goals is mounting in Knox County. Rhonda Noble from Possum Street expressed her dismay upon learning that a solar facility would be built across her home, as reported by Mount Vernon News.

Furthermore, several residents have submitted letters to the Knox County Commission expressing concerns about the overlooked environmental impact of solar panels. An analysis conducted by The Buckeye Institute and reported by Mount Vernon News suggests that the project's tax revenue projections may be significantly overstated.
