Darcy (Dar) F. Turner | Snyder Funeral Home

Darcy (Dar) F. Turner, 70, of Mount Vernon passed into eternal peace on December 18, 2023 in the care of his family in Cleveland, OH. He was born on July 22, 1953 to Clarence (Clyde) and Donna (Morris) Turner in Council Bluffs, IA. He graduated from Lexington high school in OH in 1971, and went to MVNU for 2 years before graduating from Asbury College where he enjoyed being on the tumbling team making people laugh.

Dar was a gifted artist, composer, and cartoonist. A talented musician, he played many different instruments and was a choir director. He was a youth pastor, working in the mission field all over the United States and learned Spanish to minister to the natives in Ecuador. He enjoyed working in elementary schools and with his knowledge of American Sign Language, also taught for the School for the Deaf in Iowa. During his early years of marriage, he and his wife traveled throughout WV preaching on Native American reservations and sharing his musical compositions of Bible verses. He enjoyed spending time in nature and gardening with the knowledge he learned from them.

Dar is survived by his mother Donna Marie (Morris) Turner; his daughters Nellie (Salvatore Petrash) Turner of Northfield, OH, Tamarind (Kyle) Hill of Cleveland, OH; a brother Dudley (Lori) Turner of Akron, OH; nieces Tecca Obligacion, Ruth Turner and Maggie Turner, former wife and friend Lisa Turner, and companion Shirley Hannahs. Dar was preceded in death by his father C. Clyde Turner, brother Kimber C. Turner, and niece Leah (Turner) Dunbar.

A Memorial Service will be held at Community Christian Fellowship, 23436 Newcastle Rd, Gambier, OH 43022, January 2, 2024 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior. Graveside services will be at 2:00pm at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown, OH.
