DANVILLE – Recent in-school competition has determined the four students who will represent the four students who will represent Danville Local Schools in next month’s Knox County Spelling Bee.
Ryleigh Harris emerged as the fifth-grade winner by correctly spelling “nighttime.” Kellyn Addair was runner-up.
The sixth-grade title went to Aubri Cottrell, who correctly spelled “reference” after five rounds. Hazel Doup was runner-up.
Caden Buckley claimed the seventh-grade championship by correctly spelling “disdain” in the sixth round. Runner-up honors went to Ana Avila.
Kaden Sanders emerged as the eighth-grade winner, correctly spelling “manual” in the seventh round. Cy Wallace was runner-up.
The Knox County Spelling Bee is facilitated by the Knox Educational Service Center (ESC) with financial support from the Mount Vernon Rotary Club. The 2024 county bee will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, in the Mount Vernon High School auditorium. The county commissioners will serve as judges.
Taylor Gingery, the ESC’s gifted and talented coordinator, will be the pronouncer.
