The Division II All-Ohio football team was announced on Dec. 6, and running back Jonny Askew of the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets was named an honorable mention after leading the team’s offense this season.
Askew was the team’s lead running back this year, tallying 729 rushing yards and seven scores on 140 attempts, averaging 5.2 yards per carry despite battling injuries. The senior caught 24 pass for 305 yards. On defense he had an interception return for a touchdown for 54 yards, and also returned a kickoff for 31 yards. He led the team with 1,119 all purpose yards and was also first team All-OCC.
This is the third straight year Askew has been named, and first at running back. Last year he was chosen as a receiver and the year before at defensive back as an honorable mention.
Congratulations to Jonny on a great year and football career at Mount Vernon High School.
