Cole Delaughder has been a dominating force all year on offense for the Danville football team, and that has been especially true during the playoffs. Last week he battled the rainy weather and tough Dalton defense with 121 yards of total offense, and has been named the Mount Vernon Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.
Delaughder was a shining point of a Danville offense that otherwise struggled in the regional finals last week. He carried the ball 18 times for 96 yards to pace the Blue Devil running attack, and also caught two a pair of passes, with one being a leaping snag in the end zone for 27 yards for the lone touchdown of the day for the Blue Devils.
Delaughder also surged through the line for a punt block that bounced out of the back of the end zone for a safety to give the Blue Devils an early lead in the game.
Through 14 games, Delaughder was a main source of offense week after week. He tallied 226 carries for 1,772 yards, a 7.78 yard per carry average and 25 rushing touchdowns. He also was 4-for-6 for 37 yards and two passing touchdowns, and caught a team high 25 passes for 308 yards and four scores. He had 32 two point conversions, and was second on the team in total points with 236. Defensively he tallied 40 tackles with 13 for a loss, and six sacks. Delaughder was named first team All-KMAC and first team All-District this season.
Congratulations to Cole Delaughder on a fantastic week and season for the Danville Blue Devils!
