Obituaries: Wanetta M. Beckholt | Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel

Wanetta M. Beckholt, age 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon. She was born on January 17, 1936, in Breckinridge, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Irene (Duckworth) Boyce. Wanetta previously worked at the San-Dar Smorgasboard in Bellville, Ohio, before retiring from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center after 17 years of employment.

She is survived by her children; Susan (Tim) Birie of Fredericktown, Shelia (Steve) Zieg of Galion, Sandy Overholt of Mansfield, Steve (Alverta) Brown of Marengo, Stan Brown of Wooster; two step children, Elaine Craw of Mount Vernon and Richard (Mary) Beckholt of Newark; twelve grandchildren, Chris (Marianne) Birie, Beth Birie, Matthew (Paula) Zieg, Jenny Marcucci, Nathan (Dia) Overholt, Shannon (Mike) Donelson, Anya Brown, Brendon (Sarah) Brown, Sally (Nathan) Clark, Matthew (Erin) Craw, Erica Beckholt and Jessica Beckholt; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Mary White-Konshur of Apache Junction, Arizona; a brother, Arthur Boyce of Mansfield and good friends, Donna Shipman and the late Buzz Shipman.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Beckholt; three sisters, Betty Young, Elanda “Sissy” McCarron, Dora Mae Layfield and a brother, Jackie Boyce.

Friends may call on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. A graveside service was be held on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier. Deacon Tim Birie was be officiating.

Memorial contributions in Wanetta’s name may be made to the All Believer’s In Christ Church, 1650 S. Main Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44907.
