Get ready for a full-packed weekend of festive cheer in Downtown Mount Vernon! Winter in Downtown, presented by Open Road Renewables, is set to kick off on Nov. 25 and 26, promising two days of family-friendly activities and holiday magic.
SHOP SMALL SATURDAY
Start the weekend with a bang by supporting local businesses from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Discover unique gifts for your loved ones on Nov. 25
ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARADE
The excitement continues on Sunday, Nov. 26, with the Annual Holiday Parade presented by Park National Bank. Line up begins at 2:00 p.m. and the parade will kick off at 3:45 p.m. from North Main Street at Chestnut Street, winding its way around the west side of Public Square and down South Main Street. Parade float registration will close on Nov. 12.
FAMILY WINTER ACTIVITIES
Following the parade, there would be a host of winter activities for everyone to enjoy. Participate in the Ornament Hop to collect holiday ornaments. Your donations for these ornaments will go towards supporting the Winter Sanctuary Homeless Shelter.
Children can pen their heartwarming letters to Santa on the lower level of the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel. And as you shop or indulge in delicious treats, be serenaded by the harmonious carols of The Dogwood Blossoms on the square.
ANNUAL LIGHTING OF PUBLIC SQUARE and PICTURES WITH SANTA
At 5:00 p.m., Mayor Matt Starr and Santa will illuminate Public Square and Downtown Mount Vernon, courtesy of Ariel Corporation. Capture the magical moment, and then head to the lower level of the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel from 5:30-7:00 p.m. for photos with Santa.
