Jean L. Shackle, age 83, of Urbana, Ohio, and formerly of Mount Vernon, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 15, 2023. She was born on June 2, 1940, in Amity, Ohio the daughter of Leonard and Opal (Keck) Griffith.

Jean retired in 1997 after 30 years of employment with the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and was a member of the Mount Vernon First Church of God on Pine Street. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, that enjoyed nothing more than the quality time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her son, Doug (Lisa) Shackle of Urbana, four grandchildren, Sarah Shackle, Derek Shackle, Donovan Shackle, and Grace Shackle, several great grandchildren, a brother, Carroll Griffith of Mount Vernon and a sister, Rosalie Brooks of Butler.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Shackle, a son, David Shackle, a brother, Chuck Griffith, and two sisters, Betty White, and Sharon Robinson.

A graveside service was be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, beginning at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Jean L. Shackle.
