Knox Community Hospital's Center for Cancer Care put on its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event on Thursday, October 12.
Chris Petee, a Breast Cancer Survivor, spoke on her experience and the difficulties of fighting through a cancer diagnosis. Dr. Michael Sullivan, OB/GYN, helped raise awareness on preventing breast cancer through annual mammograms of BrCA 1 and BrCA 2 testing. He also shared some personal experiences with Dr. Rasheed and offered a great testimonial to how beneficial Knox County is to have a medical oncologist of his caliber at KCH.
Kelli Downey, Breast Health Navigator, discussed her role with patient support from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. Tanner Salyers, the new Safety-Service Director with the Mount Vernon Mayor's office, shared the Breast Health Awareness proclamation.
The event recognized Barb Barry and Julie Farmer for their roles in the Go Pink for a Cure annual golf outing. This team has raised $43,025 for 2023 in net proceeds, enhancing support for breast health patients in Knox County.
