Ruth Ellen Hinton, 95, of Mooringsport, LA, passed away August 5, 2023, at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center, in Bossier City, LA.
Born on December 4, 1927, in Washington County, Ohio, Ruth was the daughter of William Okey and Margaret {Daugherty} Treadway. She married Eugene P. Hinton on October 15, 1977.
Ruth worked at the Daily Record for a decade before she retired in 1993. Her true passions lay in her hobbies. Crafting was a way she expressed her artistic flair, and she loved cooking. She was also an avid letter-writer, penning her thoughts to friends and loved ones with care.
Ruth was be deeply missed by her daughters, Bonnie (Mike) Slater and Faye (Gary) Fair; stepchildren, Lonnie (Pam) Hinton, Gerald Hinton, JoAn (Jay) Hinton Franks, Rich (Kim) Combs; grandson Robert Walker and granddaughters Pepper (Bill) Alexander and Sheryl (Travis) Wadkins; step-grandchildren Tracie (Matt) Eglin and Lisa (Matt) Beine, Celeste, Caiden, David and Lily Combs, Patrick and Charity Hinton; great-grandsons Sammie Alexander and Colby; great-grand-daughter Meagan Walker; six step-great-grandchildren Grace (Tyler Slaven), Ruth, Hannah and Sarah Mccrea, Sophia, Amelia and Cecilia Beine; great-great-granddaughter Kylie Webb; half-sister Millie Bowers; and half-brother Ray Place.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, sister Mary Westerling, step-son Lonnie Hinton, and grandson Paul Walker.
Arrangements are handled by Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel in Wooster. A memorial service in September at the funeral home was celebrate her life, and she was find her final resting place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
