Harold Paul Applegate passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster at the age of 89.
He was born on April 15, 1934, to parents Russell & Geneive (Guthrie) Applegate in Perrysville, Ohio. Harold graduated from Perrysville High School with the class of 1952, and went on to serve his country by joining the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. He married Audrey Joyce Stouffer on June 3, 1954, and the pair were married for 68 years until Audrey’s passing in March of this year.
Harold retired from the US Postal Service in Mansfield where he was a supervisor, and was a weekend farmer on the family farm for many years, farming cattle.
After retirement, Harold and Audrey traveled all over the United States in their motorhome and spent 18 years traveling to Florida in the winter. They were also active within their church and longtime members of the Perrysville Baptist Church.
Harold is survived by his children Bruce (Beverly) Applegate, Brian Applegate, and Lisa Brunner; grandchildren Nicholas Aaron Applegate and Abby (Ian) McLeod; and great-grandsons Callum and Troy.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife Audrey; and his brothers Charles, Donald, and Edwin Applegate.
A graveside service was take place on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery- Perrysville with Military Honors.
