Robert “Bob” William Bauder, 95, of Delaware passed away early Wednesday morning, August 2, 2023 at the Danbury Senior Living Westerville: Parkside Village.
He was born December 12, 1927 in Liberty Township to the late Henry Dewey and Hazel (Cozart) Bauder and graduated from Hyatts High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Bob retired from PPG Industries after 30 years and was also a farmer. He was a former member of the Redman Lodge in Hyatts and a former volunteer fireman for Radnor Township. He enjoyed racing harness horses and his horse, Bob’s Escort, was named the Ohio Aged Pacer - Horse of the Year in 1990. Until recently, he attended every Little Brown Jug horse race since its founding, except for the 2 years while serving in Korea. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians/Guardians. He especially loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in a variety of high school sports and supported their 4-H projects. Bob loved to tell stories that made everyone laugh. The best stories were the ones he had trouble telling because he could not stop laughing as he told the story.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Michael (Jane) Bauder of Galena, Stephen “Steve” Bauder of Greenville and Phillip (Tom) Bauder of Wilton Manors, Florida; grandchildren, Matthew (Sophea) Bauder and Justine (Chase) Langdon; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Luca and a great-granddaughter on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Dixie, brothers Dale, Don, Harold, Allen, and David and sister Mary “Janet” Held.
