Obituaries: John "Rebel" Bell | Snyder Funeral Homes

John was born in Madison, Tennessee, where his parents gave him the nickname “Rebel.” Shortly after birth, the family moved back to Sunbury, Ohio, where John grew up, graduated from Big Walnut High School then joined the U. S. Naval Construction Battalion known as the “Seabees.” After his Honorable Discharge, he returned home and did construction and mechanical work (an outstanding mechanic). His hobby was working on engines, building model cars and making people laugh no matter how much he was hurting. John spent the last several years with the “love of his life” as he referred to her, Elizabeth Berthold. John is survived by his daughter Jessica Lines of Sunbury, Ohio, and son, Jason Bell of Fulton, Missouri; brother Russ “Spook” Bell of Gahanna, Ohio, sister Linda (Bell) and Donald Goedke of Coral Springs, Florida and nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father Berman “Pooz” Bell, mother Ruth (Miesse) Bell and sister Kitty (Bell) Lyons; and 4 grandchildren.

A graveside service for burial of John's ashes was take place at Trenton Township Cemetery at a date and time soon to be determined.
