Shannon L. Bomar-David, 53, of Collins, peacefully passed away after a long
battle with cancer on Friday, August 31, 2023, at her home in Delaware, Ohio.
She was born March 4, 1970, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Roy S. (Sam) and
Patricia A. (Sayles) Bomar. She began her lifelong career in law enforcement
as a dispatcher at the Milan Police Department in Milan, OH, while attending
Terra Technical College to pursue her associate’s degree in criminal justice.
After graduating, she moved to Toledo and served on the tri-county drug task
force. She then signed on to the Columbus Police Department, most recently
serving as a member of the Columbus Mounted Police. She retired on July 13,
2022, after 29 years of faithful service. She loved to travel to new places and
meet new people. She was a lover of animals, especially horses, and loved
spending time taking care of her “sweet baby Joy.” She also enjoyed spending
time with her kids, family, and wonderful friends.
She is survived by her son, Mason A. David, and her two daughters, Reese E.
David and Reagan L. David of Delaware; her parents, Roy S. Bomar and
Patricia A. (Sayles) Bomar of Collins; and her brothers Brett L. Bomar and
Ryan A. Bomar of Collins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John W. and Rebecca L.
(Sammons) Bomar and Melvin D. and Grace E. (Sly) Sayles.
Memorial Gathering was be at 10:00 a.m. to noon with a service to followed at Noon on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Snyder
Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr, Delaware, with Pastor Kale
Bougher officiating. Those unable to attend the serviced can watch via the live-stream at www.facebook.com/DelawareSFH . A luncheon was be provided at Snyder Rodman Funeral
Center immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Capital City Hospice
or Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
