Pirates go 2-0 in volleyball action beating Northmor, Mount Gilead

Cardington-Lincoln (12-10, 8-4) went 2-0 last week in volleyball action, led by Autumn Holt with 24 kills and Abby Ufferman with 76 assists over the two matches.

Holt recorded 12 kills to beat KMAC rival Mount Gilead (0-20, 0-13) on Oct. 10.

The Pirates won in convincing fashion by set scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-15. Lily Clark had eight kills and a team high nine aces. Alexis Longsdorf had a solid night with seven aces, four digs and five kills. Rylee Donkin led the team in digs with 12. Abby Ufferman posted 34 assists, four kills and three digs.

On Oct. 12 the Pirates beat Northmor (11-10, 6-6) 3-1 with Holt tallying 12 kills to lead the squad. The Golden Knights won the first set 25-20, but then Cardington-Lincoln took the next three sets 25-17, 25-23 and 25-17 to secure the win.

Holt had one ace and two digs along with her kill count. Ufferman had 42 assists and 12 digs. Rylee Donkin led the defense with 12 digs. Clark had 15 digs and Longsdorf added seven digs. Madison Caulkins recorded eight blocks.

Northmor had 13 total kills and was led by Maddie See with five. Kallie Wright had five digs. Lizzie Erlsten recorded eight assists.

The No. 11 Pirates now move onto tournament play on Tuesday against No. 16 Johnstown Northridge at home in the Division III, Central 2-Sectional/District tournament.

Northmor, the nine seed, will face the winner of their match on Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. with the location to be announced.

No. 17 Mount Gilead takes on No. 4 Lancaster Fisher Catholic on Oct. 18 in the first round of the Division IV Central 1- Sectional/District.
