Mount Vernon attorney Cynthia Cunningham recently received the Ohio State Bar Foundation’s Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

Cunningham is a partner at Kidwell and Cunningham, specializing in real estate law, probate and estate planning, and small business law. She holds degrees from Kenyon College and Capital University, including a law degree.

“Everyone in Knox County respects Cindy and enjoys her knowledge, passion and great sense of humor," said Steve Oster, Superintendent of the Knox and Coshocton County Boards of Developmental Disabilities. “She has a deep sense of commitment and supports people, organizations, and causes with her whole heart, making Knox County a better place for everyone.”

The Ohio State Bar Foundation noted Cunnigham as exceptional attorney, civic leader and dedicated volunteer with deep roots in her community.

The award recognizes lawyers aged around 40 or younger who have made significant contributions in terms of time and effort to local social service, civic, artistic or cultural organizations.

Cunningham's commitment to community leadership is evident in her extensive involvement with various organizations, including the New Directions Domestic Violence Support Center, the YMCA of Mount Vernon, and the United Way of Knox County, to name just a few. In her roles of leadership, she has been an instrumental fundraiser and a source of inspiration within her community.

Cunningham has demonstrated unwavering advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. She has previously served as the Program and Policy Director for the Mental Health Addiction Advocacy Coalition and currently holds the position of Treasurer for the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities levy committee.

The Ohio State Bar Foundation recently unveiled its distinguished honorees, including Cunningham, for their outstanding leadership in their respective communities through volunteer service.

The public is invited to join in celebrating these remarkable individuals at the OSBF All Rise Annual Awards Celebration, titled "The Art of Giving: Creating a More Just Ohio," scheduled for October 13, 2023, at the Columbus Museum of Art.
