Shelby (5-1, 3-0) limited Highland (4-2, 1-2) running back Dane Nauman to no scores and only 61 yards rushing, while piling on nearly 500 yards of offense to take a 48-14 win over Highland on Friday in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference (MOAC) action.

It was a 14-14 game after one quarter, but it was all Shelby the rest of the way who went off for 34 unanswered points for the win over the MOAC rival Fighting Scots. The Whippets scored 12 points in the second, 15 points in the third, and then finished with seven fourth quarter points.

Shelby jumped out to a 14-0 lead early on a 32-yard touchdown run by Brayden DeVito with 8:31 on the clock, and then following a recovered onside kick, a 21 yard score by Skyler Winters.

Highland did showed fight in the first quarter of play, with Kolton Stover providing the offense for the Fighting Scots on a 32-yard touchdown run. Stover then connected with Kadyn Reichenbach for a 30 yard touchdown.

The wheels fell off the rest of the way for the Fighting Scots, led by a rushing attack of 206 yards and 279 yards in the air. DeVito had a pair of touchdown passes to go with two rushing scores to lead the charge. Winters was in top form with three rushing touchdowns for Shelby.

The 6'1, 210 pound Nauman, who has been the top running back for Highland all year and the reigning Division V player of the year, had 15 carries for 61 yards on the ground. He also caught a pass for two yards. Stover went 16-for-26 for 132 yards and a touchdown. He connected with Church seven times for 47 yards. Reichenbach reeled in three catches for 47 yards, including the touchdown. Hayden Kline had four receptions for 31 yards.

Defensively for Highland, Gavin Wiggand led the team with 8.5 tackles. Nauman had six tackles and a sack, while Kline added six tackles.

The Fighting Scots had 120 total rushing yards and 132 passing yards, for 252 yards of total offense. This paled in comparison to the Shelby total of 485 yards.
