HNCO / Hospice of Knox County and Mount Vernon Players are partnering to present a special two week series of events, October 26-Nov 5, 2023. The collaboration will commence on October 26 with the He(Arts) for Hospice Art Gala featuring artwork donated by local artists.
The artwork on display will be part of an online Art Auction where patrons can bid on their favorite pieces for the duration of the two weeks. The gala is FREE and open to all in the community. Complimentary hors 'doeurves will be served and a cash bar will be open. Local harpists, artists, players and HNCO staff will be present to greet guests and dressed in their finest Victorian dresses, suits, and hats. Early 20th century attire is encouraged for all visitors but not required.
Following the Art Gala and preview will be a production of The Canterville Ghost performed by the Mount Vernon Players. The Canterville Ghost is a play by Oscar Wilde and presented with permission by The Dramatic Publishing Company. It is a story of forgiveness, love, and a child who befriends a mischievous ghost trying to scare the family back to America. Tickets for the play on October 26 are limited and must be purchased in advance of the show.
The gallery space will be open throughout the two weeks for visitors to view the artwork in person before they bid if they so desire. A catalog of the pieces will be available online and in print. Please check back for more details on gallery hours and for a link to the catalog and bidding site as we get closer to the kick-off on October 26. November 5 will wrap up the series of shows with Afternoon Tea. Tea and treats will be served while guests enjoy local harpists and an art demonstration followed by a live art auction. Fascinators and top hats are encouraged for all guests but not required. Following the tea will be an encore production of The Canterville Ghost.
