Mary Lou (Hecker) McConaghy, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully at Danbury Senior Living in Westerville, OH, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Mary Lou was born June 24, 1945, to Alfred and Violet (Little) McConaghy in Dennison, OH. She was a 1963 graduate of Hiland High School, Berlin OH, attended Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing to receive her RN in 1966, and graduated from Franklin University in 1991 with her BSN. Mary Lou made her career as a nurse and retired in 2010.
She is survived by her two daughters, Julie George (Larry) of Westerville, OH, and Kristen Harding (Mark) of Cincinnati, OH; and grandchildren, Kendall and Lindsay George and Erin Harding; and her brother Jim (Beth) McConaghy of Beach City OH, five nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Violet McConaghy, her sister Helen Capper, and brother-in-law John Capper. Calling hours will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, Devore Chapel, 637 OH-61 in Sunbury on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 1-3 PM with the funeral to follow at 3 PM.
