The vehicles involved in the collision were identified as a 2008 Jeep Compass, registered to RICHARD C FLACK of 18160 OLD MANSFIELD RD, FREDERICKTOWN, OH 43019; a 2013 Mazda 3, registered to BRANDON LEE BELL of 1101 W VINE ST, MOUNT VERNON, OH 43050; and a 2016 Volkswagen Golf, registered to MAHDI BRADLEY of 310 COTTAGE ST, MOUNT VERNON, OH 43050. All three vehicles were traveling northbound on Newark Road at the time of the incident.
According to the police report, the sequence of events leading to the collision began when MAHDI BRADLEY's vehicle came to a stop due to traffic ahead. BRANDON LEE BELL's vehicle was directly behind BRADLEY's and also came to a halt. Unfortunately, the driver of the 2008 Jeep Compass, RICHARD C FLACK, failed to stop in time, resulting in a rear-end collision with BELL's vehicle. The impact was forceful enough to push BELL's vehicle into the rear of BRADLEY's car.
• In an incident reported by the Mount Vernon Police Department, a collision occurred in the parking lot of McDonald's on North Sandusky Street on September 1, 2023, at approximately 15:50. The scene was cleared by 16:29 on the same day.
The vehicles involved in the accident were identified as a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, registered to PATRICIA I HOADLEY of 643 CRESTROSE DR, HOWARD, OH 43028, and a 2023 Kia Sorrento, owned by ROUSH ENTERPRISES of 12447 LEVAN, LIVONIA, MI 48150.
According to the police report, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by PATRICIA I HOADLEY, was parked in a marked handicap space within the McDonald's parking lot, facing west. Simultaneously, the 2023 Kia Sorrento, operated by an unnamed individual, was stopped in the northbound travel lane of the same parking lot.
The collision occurred when HOADLEY's vehicle began to back up in a northeast direction, failing to notice the presence of the 2023 Kia Sorrento. Consequently, the Equinox collided with the left midsection of the Sorrento.
The incident resulted in property damage only, with no reported injuries.
