Master Will Smith presided over the monthly meeting of Morgan Grange with 18 members present. The charter was draped in the loving memory of Kathy Stafford.
Family Activities chairwoman Cindy Campbell gave a big thank you to all those who helped in any way with the two recently catered wedding receptions and the serving of a luncheon to the Utica Senior Citizens. Our next event to be catered is a high school reunion dinner in August.
Congratulations were extended to Lonnie Totten for winning Alternate Best of Show at the Ohio State Grange talent contest held in June. Final preparations were made for the cleaning of the fair booths and pop stands prior to the Knox County Fair. It was decided by members to make a monetary donation to the Knox County Junior Fair Livestock Buyers Club. Pomona Grange met for a picnic in July at the Dan Emmett shelter house.
Concerns were expressed for Ron and Aileen Hiltner, John and Terri Barber, the Evelyn Spray family, Wendell Balcom, Leila Doup and Bob McVay. Members with birthdays this month include Cindy Campbell, Peg Carpenter, Aileen Hiltner and Judy Williams. Jim and Dorthy Hughes celebrated an anniversary this month.
Lecturer JoAnn Walton started her program by giving each member a package of M&M's, then asked everyone to pull out just one piece. Then members with the same color of candy were asked to answer very random questions concerning their memories, funny stories or future wishes. A skit entitled "It's good to be a granger" was read by Dorthy Hughes and Rita Smith. All joined in singing "God be with you till we meet again." Refreshments were served following the meeting.
Morgan members will meet again on Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Please bring your crafts, photography and needlework projects for judging.
