The Knox County Pomona Grange met on Monday, July 17, at Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange picnic shelter. Everyone enjoyed a potluck dinner with a total of 22 people present.

Master Lonnie Totten started the picnic with the Pledge of Allegiance and then a prayer. Included in the prayer was thinking of the Bruce Roy family, with Roy's untimely death on Sunday morning. After the dinner, the brief meeting started with Totten announcing that the Nomination Committee would be JoAnn Walton, Mary Jewell and Deb Hamilton. Several officers need to be replaced for the next grange year, which starts on Oct. 1.

County Deputy Cindy Campbell thanked the Pop Committee for its work to clean up the pop stands at the Knox County Fairgrounds. Special thank you to Linda Beck from Harrison Grange for cleaning the display booths in the Flower Building. Speaking of the display booths, all booths needed to be in place on Thursday, July 20, with all their grange activities and awards. Judging of the booths will be at the first part of the fair.

The July-August Grange Magazine is out and Campbell pointed out the picture of what many farmers are doing this time of year: baling hay!

Reminder that all reports are due Sept. 1 and that includes resolutions from each of the granges. Secretaries are asked to list the name of their grange with all member names and addresses to the State Secretary.

Dee Smith reported that the Pop Committee is ready to go with all the stands cleaned. Friday, Smith will get the pop and Cindy Campbell will be getting the water and iced tea. The stands will be open on Saturday, but the fair doesn't actually start until Sunday. Saturday is free to all that want to come to the horse races or see some of the 4-H participants. It was decided to give a donation in memory of Bruce Roy to the charity of the family's choice and also a donation to the Buyer's Club for the Knox County Fair Animal auction. Campbell reported that the Ohio State Grange is not having a booth at the Ohio State Fair this year, but it will have a booth at the Farm Science Review in September.

The meeting was ended with bingo enjoyed by all. The next meeting is Aug. 21 at Morgan Grange. It will be the judging of the photos and crafts, with winners going to the Ohio State Grange convention in October.
