A recent analysis by BetOhio showed that Ohio residents love ice cream more than people in most other states.

Ohio ranked 11th in a list of the "Most Ice Cream Crazy U.S. States," according to a BetOhio press release. The company used data from Google Trends to calculate rankings using search volume since April 21, 2022. It then developed a point system, grading searches by volume, and weighted searches for the top three flavors: chocolate, vanilla and strawberry each being worth 1-50 points each.

Ohio got a whopping 44 points by search volume, meaning lots of hungry Ohio residents are looking up ice cream on Google. Weighting searches for the top three flavors found that of those three, chocolate was the most popular flavor with 40 points followed by strawberry with 31 points. Ohioans seem to have an overall distaste to vanilla as the flavor only earned 11 points on the list. In total, the state garnered 126 points, and the 11th-place ranking.

BetOhio noted that the state has a well known "Ice Cream Trail," which includes 20 destinations out of the roughly 2,200 dairy farms and hundreds of unique ice cream shops across the state.

New Hampshire was first on the list of Most Ice Cream Crazy U.S. States with a total of 173 points. Utah placed second with 158 points, and Delaware ranked third with 152 points.
