Morgan Grange holds annual inspection

Master Will Smith presided over the annual inspection meeting with 19 members singing "April Showers" as the opening song. Roll call was taken and minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. A recess was declared for the purpose of presenting the fourth degree work.

Family Activities chairwoman Cindy Campbell informed members of the two Spring Fling Conferences on April 15 in Wayne County and April 22 in Fairfield County. The Farm City Dinner was on April 17 and we served a Shriner's dinner on April 27. The Deputies Conference will be on May 6. Pomona Grange will meet on May 15 at Wayne Grange with Middlebury Grange hosting. Morgan will be catering Trina Orr's wedding reception in June as well as serving Sarah Bebout's wedding reception in June.

Ned Campbell reported that the Morgan dartball team placed first in the county tournament and placed seventh in the state tournament. It was announced that Campbell is the new incoming president and Morgan is getting a new dartball board, compliments of the Duane Brown family.

The Delegate Election form was received, members voted and the results forwarded to the state secretary. Concerns were expressed for Terri Barber, Patty Krueger and Steve Debolt. Sue Bateman is celebrating a birthday this month and Bob and Irene Smith are celebrating an anniversary.

Lecturer JoAnn Walton read a comparison list of the number of items sold during the 2007 and the 2008 Utica homecoming food stand. Walton informed members of the strong influence the grange resolutions have had on the world in which we live. She cited many examples of the changes that have been brought about starting with the grange's resolutions throughout the years. Several members read a brief history of national food days in November. Those mentioned were National Cupcake Day, National Sundae Day, National Pizza Without Anchovies Day and National Pickle Day. Campbell correctly guessed the number of pickles in a jar and won the jar as the prize. Also in November is World Kindness Day, National Clean Out the Refrigerator Day and Veterans Day. We recognized veteran members Sam Williams and James Jordan.
